Take a break from the bustle of the downtown core to enjoy this showcase of original art from over 30 local artists. Open daily from 10 am to 4 pm, July 25 through August 7.
ArtSpring is located at 100 Jackson Avenue, Salt Spring Island, BC. On the quiet side of downtown Ganges, it’s within easy walking distance from the main road, and also has plenty of free parking and accessible access.
This is my first year as a participant, and I’m so excited to be part of this event!
It’s all for a great cause- providing the Marine Education and Research Society with funds to support their mission to reduce threats to marine mammals through research, education and response.
This year’s fundraiser for our local co-op preschool features many wonderful gifts from Salt Spring Island businesses & individuals. I’m donating a certificate for a custom pet portrait!

I’m so happy to have participated in this event for the third year. I’m a big fan of Pacific Wild and all they do for wildlife in BC.
My piece this year was inspired by a visit to Haida Gwaii, and features a trio of black bears foraging for crabs along a forested shoreline in Gwaii Haanas National Park.

Pacific Arts Market’s first holiday event of the year is this weekend!
Because of the additional COVID-19 restrictions in place in Vancouver, they’re moving this event online! You can do your holiday shopping and support local artists from the comfort & safety of your own home.
There will be a livestream through the PAM Facebook page from 3 to 8 pm (Pacific Time) where artists will be doing talks & live demos. If you see something you’d like to purchase during the livestream, simply send them a message during the event and they can make it happen!
I will be restocking my PAM shop & online shop with some holiday favourites- like rustic wooden block prints, holiday cards, and decorative magnet sets. If you have a special item in mind that you’d like me to set aside, I’m happy to do so- just send me a message through Instagram or by email.

My piece this year, “Song Of The Sea Wolf”, was created in honour of the unique and fascinating coastal wolves that make BC’s Great Bear Rainforest home.
Each bid includes includes free shipping within North America. (Overseas shipping is also available at a discount.)
The auction runs from 9 am on November 9th to 5 pm on November 12th (Pacific Time).

Name: Song Of The Sea Wolf
Size: 11 x 8.5” matted to 14 x 11”
Material: Watercolour on 100% cotton cold pressed paper, with a 100% cotton archival museum mat
I was introduced to the Sea Wolves that make the islands and inlets of Northern BC home through the photography of Ian McAllister, whose portrait of a lovely fluffy wolf inspired this painting. The pup is set against a misty coastal backdrop drawn from several my own photos taken while travelling along the coast.
To me, the song of a wolf’s howl is not something to be feared- it is beautiful and mysterious… as are the wolves themselves. Pacific Wild’s efforts to end the controversial and inhumane BC wolf cull are very important and close to my heart. I hope that through their efforts, and through the kindness of people like you, we can show the province and the world that these beautiful, intelligent animals are deserving of respect and protection.
